LogiLink USB 2.0 to IDE and SATA Adapter Cable -AU-0006

Well made and useful - I would not recommend this for linking an external drive on a permanent basis. It s simply not designed for this. Get a proper external housing. It s neater and safer.What this is designed for is a temporary link for hard drives to retrieve data from failed systems or for hooking up an external CDROM for devices that haven t got one. And for this it does a superb job.I am often called on, at home and at work, to link drives from systems that have failed to retrieve data. This involved opening a PC and linking the drive through an ide cable. This was a hassle, and with the added recent complication of SATA and 2.5 connections, I decided to make my life easier by investing in a USB patch system.I resisted the temptation of an under a fiver system - everything is made to a cost after all, and opted for a more expensive alternative. The kit contains a usb to ide/sata adaptor, a SATA cable, a small power block for powering the drives with SATA and twin molex adaptors. All appear solidly built and of good quality. I ve only tested it on a spare 3.5 ide drive so far but it works well with the native Windows drivers and allowed me to read and delete files, and to format the drive, so I ve no reason to think it will not work equally well with other drive configurations. Can t fault it.
